Well hello my foodie friends! How was your Monday? Not too brutal, I hope! Over the weekend Ben and I had a huge bonfire! It rained a bit, so everything was nice and wet. I totally forgot my camera for the before shot, but lets just say that the pile to burn was HUGE! This is where is used to be.
Please excuse the darkness, but it was pretty late by the time I went and got my camera.
Ben rode his mini tractor. He loves that thing! It's like his personal go-kart!
We warmed ourselves by the fire,
and roasted marshmallows!
I LOVE marshmallows! Maybe one of my favorite foods! It's just not a campfire, or bonfire, without them!
Perfectly roasted!
Needless to say we had a good time with the bonfire. I do realize that my clothing is hideous, but I wasn't exactly out to impress!
This food, however, definitely is out to impress! So, without further ado, here are some of the recipes I have been wanting to make!
Fellow Foodie Bites
-This socca recipe from the twins over at pure 2 raw looks delicious! I had never heard of socca before!
-Here is a great seitan demo from hungry hungry hippie! I have always wanted to try this stuff out.
-I love finding energy bars that taste good, and are healthy! These look like they are both!
-These roasted potato chips look like the perfect snack, plus, no frying!
-Warm sticky toffee pudding should be a meal all in itself! Who wouldn't want to eat the entire batch?!
-I'm always looking for new grains to try, or new ways to prepare them. Curried millet is a must try!
-I love hummus, and I love sweet potatoes. Now I can make sweet potato hummus!
-Who doesn't want more pumpkin recipes?! When paired with creme brulee you can't go wrong! Mmm, pumpkin creme brulee!
-I keep meaning to try baba ganoush. This looks like a great recipe!
-I have totally been digging soup lately. It's just that season, ya know? This roasted squash and white bean soup looks perfect for a Fall evening!
-Let's end with dessert, shall we? Joy the Baker is totally my favorite blogger, and her apple spice cake looks beyond amazing! Seriously. It's worth just looking at the pictures!
I thought I'd leave you with some quick meals we've been having lately. Over the weekend Ben's parents were away, so we had breakfast for dinner! One of our favorites! Ben made amazing french toast!
YUM! Oh, that's totally his plate. You can tell by the half stick of butter on top, and the entire jug of syrup!!!
Here's another tasty thing. I spooned some black beans into a bowl, and topped them with half an avocado, halved cherry tomatoes, and halved bococcini. Sprinkle a little lime juice on and we're in business!
This was a really filling and tasty lunch!
Hope the rest of the week is great for everyone!
I am jealous of your seemingly endless bonfires. I would like to come roast marshmallows and eat s'mores.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet potato hummus shout-out! [And I loved that seitan demo that Elise did as well. :)]
Mmmm that roasted marshmellow pick is killer! I loooove s'mores!
ReplyDeleteLove the recipe round-up, too. I'd like to try socca!
Bonfires are so fun! Too bad that we live in a high fire area so we can't have any. Love your toasted marshmallow, it's the perfect degree of toastiness!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun you must have had!
