Well, my friends. I am sick. My husband is sick. My mother-in-law is sick. I'm kinda waiting for my father-in-law to get sick too. It sucks. I have no energy, and the craft fair is next weekend! Hope I feel better by then. Needless to say, I haven't figured out my no-picture-space dilemma yet, so here is a plain, boring post. Sorry, that's just the way it is today. Blah
Luckily all of this food is NOT blah, so check out some of these fantastic recipes!

Fellow Foodie Bites #7, Plus A Bonfire!
Well hello my foodie friends! How was your Monday? Not too brutal, I hope! Over the weekend Ben and I had a huge bonfire! It rained a bit, so everything was nice and wet. I totally forgot my camera for the before shot, but lets just say that the pile to burn was HUGE! This is where is used to be.
Please excuse the darkness, but it was pretty late by the time I went and got my camera.
Ben rode his mini tractor. He loves that thing! It's like his personal go-kart!
We warmed ourselves by the fire,
and roasted marshmallows!
I LOVE marshmallows! Maybe one of my favorite foods! It's just not a campfire, or bonfire, without them!
Perfectly roasted!
Needless to say we had a good time with the bonfire. I do realize that my clothing is hideous, but I wasn't exactly out to impress!
This food, however, definitely is out to impress! So, without further ado, here are some of the recipes I have been wanting to make!
Fellow Foodie Bites
-This socca recipe from the twins over at pure 2 raw looks delicious! I had never heard of socca before!
-Here is a great seitan demo from hungry hungry hippie! I have always wanted to try this stuff out.
-I love finding energy bars that taste good, and are healthy! These look like they are both!
-These roasted potato chips look like the perfect snack, plus, no frying!
-Warm sticky toffee pudding should be a meal all in itself! Who wouldn't want to eat the entire batch?!
-I'm always looking for new grains to try, or new ways to prepare them. Curried millet is a must try!
-I love hummus, and I love sweet potatoes. Now I can make sweet potato hummus!
-Who doesn't want more pumpkin recipes?! When paired with creme brulee you can't go wrong! Mmm, pumpkin creme brulee!
-I keep meaning to try baba ganoush. This looks like a great recipe!
-I have totally been digging soup lately. It's just that season, ya know? This roasted squash and white bean soup looks perfect for a Fall evening!
-Let's end with dessert, shall we? Joy the Baker is totally my favorite blogger, and her apple spice cake looks beyond amazing! Seriously. It's worth just looking at the pictures!
I thought I'd leave you with some quick meals we've been having lately. Over the weekend Ben's parents were away, so we had breakfast for dinner! One of our favorites! Ben made amazing french toast!
YUM! Oh, that's totally his plate. You can tell by the half stick of butter on top, and the entire jug of syrup!!!
Here's another tasty thing. I spooned some black beans into a bowl, and topped them with half an avocado, halved cherry tomatoes, and halved bococcini. Sprinkle a little lime juice on and we're in business!
This was a really filling and tasty lunch!
Hope the rest of the week is great for everyone!

A CSN Store Giveaway, and Fellow foodie Bites #7
Hello there friends! Today I have something exciting for you! I was contacted by CSN stores (which is made up of over 200 online stores!), and they are offering a $35 gift certificate to one of my readers! I took some time to check out what they have to offer, as well as browse through a few of their online stores. There is SO much to choose from! Check out this site for a cool bar stool, this one for an overwhelming selection of everything I have ever wanted for my kitchen (including a vita-mix...drool!), and this one to find your way to all of their different stores! Online shopping is WAY too much fun!
Want to enter this giveaway?
- Just leave me a comment on this post, telling me which CSN item you are drooling over (it'll be hard to choose just one!)
- Make sure you are a "follower" of Ravenous Rowie
That's it! The only unfortunate bit is that you must live in the U.S. or Canada. This giveaway will close on Thursday, October 21st. On that day I'll randomly select a winner! I hope you guys like this giveaway! It's all for you!
And now, here's another installment of tastyness from lots of the wonderful blogs that I follow. I always fully intend to try out all of these recipes, and usually only manage a few. But at least I have this list to remind me! Here goes.
Fellow Foodie Bites
I'll start off with this sweet potato enchilada recipe, because I already managed to make it! These enchiladas are amazingly good! And don't be afraid of the sweet potato, the sweetness and texture make this a winner!
Here is a recipe using kelp noodles, which I had never heard of before. I'll be looking for these at my local natural foods store next time I go!
With Chocolate Covered Katie vegan desserts abound. This vegan peanut butter cup pie makes me drool!
I have always wanted to make real caramels, and this seems like the perfect recipe! These might end up in my holiday gift baskets!
Butternut squash and pumpkin recipes are popping up everywhere in the blogosphere these days. I found butternut squash and apple soup, butternut squash ravioli, pumpkin pancakes, a butternut squash smoothie (which I have actually tried, and LOVED!), and pumpkin spiced nutty granola.
To continue the Fall feeling here's a beautiful apple tart tatin, turnip potato fritters, cinnamon crumble bread, and some whole wheat sweet potato muffins.
Comfort foods are abounding as the weather is turning cooler, and I start craving heartier foods. This Moroccan vegetable stew sounds like the perfect thing for a rainy day. These garlic knot rolls would probably be amazing with the stew!
What? Time for dessert? OK! I'd never say no to dessert! This chocolate chili tofu pudding sounds so intriguing, and I do have some silken tofu lurking in my fridge! Or how about some 3 minute vegan maple oatmeal cookies? YUM! And finally, this decadent show stopper, the no-bake tiramisu cheesecake! I am dying to make this one!!!
Hope you guys find something fun and new to try out in your kitchens! Happy cooking!

Fellow Foodie Bites #6
Heya foodies! The lazy monster has me by the seat of the pants! I have to be at the bakery at 8am, and then in for my second shift at 9:30pm. Ouch, those double shifters are brutal! So, enough complaining and excuses. I did have a 4 day weekend, after all.
Here are some more things that I am stockpiling for a rainy day. Things I must make! Things that maybe you should make too!
Fellow Foodie Bites #6
- I made these pumpkin chocolate chip bars at work last week. Other than extending the baking time by about 10 minutes they were fantastic!!!
-This one sounds like an amazingly easy and tasty dinner. Soba noodles with almond butter and curry sauce.
-Balsamic portabello salad is definitely on my list! I really want to try eating more mushrooms (I usually loathe them).
-More dessert that I don't need, and want anyway. Chocolate dulce de leche flan. drool.
-Fried apple cakes would be a great way to kick off apple season!
-I actually already made this chai mix! It's great! I like mine pretty intense, so I pretty much doubled the measurements of spices. I've been enjoying it with a splash of vanilla rice milk and a drizzle of local honey! I love you Fall!
-I finally found a recipe for yeasted waffles! My dad used to make these for me. Cant wait to make them!
-This isn't a recipe, but I love sprouts, and am interested in sprouting at home. This is a great beginners guide!
-Break this one out for the holidays! Who doesn't enjoy nibbling on a little dish of candied nuts?!
-More pumpkin love! Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies! Hurray!
-I plan on making this one this weekend! It's a great way to incorporate a root vegetable that I am unfamiliar with, while trying a new Fall-y recipe! Parsnip and apple soup.
-Here's a different way to eat your kale! Tuscan kale salad!
-My new goal is to try to make sauces more often. They really liven up any meal. Chimmichurri sauce seems like a good starting place!
-This is the fate of the tofu I have in the fridge. Baked tofu!
-Because you can never have too much dessert in you life! Lavender creme brule! Oh my goodness!
-More tasty apple treats! And this one is for lazy people. Very appropriate for this post! Lazy girl apple crisp.
-I love naan. Enough said.
-This looks like something different, but worth a try. Plus, I sure need a way to sneak more veggies into my diet! There's a veggie in my cheesecake. Raw dessert!
Holy cow, that was a lot of food lovin'! Did you guys survive it, or are you in a yummy food coma? I realize these posts aren't as exciting without pics and all, but I did warn you about my current state of laziness!
I think it's time for a divine bite of chocolate and a movie!
Oh, before I go...have you entered my Larabar giveaway yet? You have until this Sunday to enter, and because I have so many cases of Larabars to get rid of you have a darn good chance of winning! Sooo...enter now! It's easy, I promise!
Night all!

Crazy Bake, Beautiful Morning
Last night, once at work, we checked out the order book for Saturday. Craziness!! People had taped/stapled extra pages into the order book just to fit everything in! That is how busy it has been! Summer weekends on the islands are insane!

The light was changing so fast! It just kept getting prettier! I know it's a goofy thing to say, but sometimes these calm, still, beachy mornings feel kind of magical with the mist floating around all the little islets.

Dorian (our friend and fellow bread baker) made massive amounts of bread, B made more muffins and pastries than I've ever seen in one shift, and I rushed around like a chicken with my head cut off baking cookies, filling the case, and making tarts. I also made 15 pies, plus 3 more types of filling! Yikes!

Turns out we had so much to do that we were working for 9 hours straight! No breaks! Plus, I was literally sprinting between my work table, the ovens, and the walk-in fridge for the last couple of hours. I was downing the caffinated tea like nobodies business!
Once we were done (read "dead on our feet") we stopped and looked around at the sea of bread, pastries and cookies.
Damn, we're good! I can't believe how much stuff we baked!!!
That was definitely the longest shift I've worked at this bakery, and hopefully our longest shift of the year.
Did I mention that it was CRAZY?!
We were totally proud of ourselves, even through our delirium.
We finally got out of there, and hit up Medicine beach at about 6:30 am. It was pretty light out, as we hoped it would be. We came prepared with B's nice Nikon D5000.
Here are more beautiful shots than you probably want to look at. I just can't help myself!
The mist was stretching out little fingers everywhere today!
Then, we found this awesome log that had totally been underwater for a really long time.
There were all these hard shells from tube worm creatures.
The texture of the log was so cool! It just looked so oceany to us. We obviously were overly interested in it.
The light was changing so fast! It just kept getting prettier! I know it's a goofy thing to say, but sometimes these calm, still, beachy mornings feel kind of magical with the mist floating around all the little islets. Just a heads up, I am going to try changing the name of my blog. Not sure if the site will let me, but just in case it works I wanted you to be warned! Now that I'm getting a feel for blogging, and what I want in my posts, I've realized that although I like Rowie on Pender Time it just doesn't give that foodie impression. We'll see how it all pans out.
Here is another thing I want to add to my blog. I read so many other blogs, and find so much that I want to try, that I have a hard time keeping up with it all. I'll be randomly posting links to other blogs cataloging recipes I want to (and hopefully actually will ) try. So here goes!
Fellow Foodie Bites
-Here is Glo Bakery, where I ordered my Glo bars. I need to keep this on hand for future ordering!
-I've been wanting to try wheat berries, and I found this great sounding salad!
-Homemade pickles anyone? It sounds so fun and easy!
-Enchiladas and lasagna in one?! Yes please!
-My dad used to make homemade crackers. This recipe looks fantastic!
-These super charge me cookies look like a great no-guilt snack!
-And finally, a no-bake lemony cheesecake. Sounds like a quick and easy, plate-licking recipe!
That's quite a list, I know! My stomach is telling me it's time for a snack, and I've got the last bit of casaba melon waiting for me in the fridge! It's calling to meee!
Do you end up with a long list of recipes you want to try? How do you keep track of all of them?
